1960s St. Paul's Lutheran, Franklin WI

Fred taught upper grades and was principal of St. Paul's Lutheran School in Franklin from 1959-1971.

In this photo a young lad is being enrolled into kindergarden. Eventually Fred taught Jay in 7th and 8th grade. After high school Jay Minzlaff enrolled at Dr. Martin Luther College to become a Lutheran teacher. His son, in turn, became a Lutheran pastor.

Annette taught kindergarden and primary grades as well as music classes

She directed the church and school choirs. Both Fred and Annette co-directed yearly musicals with the school children.

At right Annette is taking children to sing for shut-ins.

Increasing enrollment necessitated building a new school. The groundbreaking was featured in the local newspaper.

School Plays and Musicals
We called them "Annual Variety Shows"
The purpose was to have all the children involved that they gain confidence in front of people.
At first they were held in the church basement but with the new school we had a gymnasium & stage
