During the month of June (2010) a violent hailstorm hit New Ulm inflicting damage to numerous homes, including those of the McLeans and the Wulffs. Fred and Annette were in St. Louis at the time and missed out on the event. Upon our return we had the State Farm adjuster meet with our contractor from Up Top Construction Company. The adjuster determined that the shingles of the whole house, shed, gazebo and garage would all need to be replaced. The siding on the east side of the garage and the east and north side of the house, as well as the shutters, would need to be stripped off and redone as well. The same was true of the wrapped posts and door frames. Furthermore, they noted that the gazebo, screens, a storm door, an awning, many gutters, etc, would need attention. The estimate eventually totaled over $30,000.
A large red truck pulled in front of the house as the
first indicator that reconstruction was about to begin.
